Does not need to be hardwired into the car (although it can be) and very user-friendly. Have seen other receivers and I think the Audiovox reciever and docking bay is the best. I would recommend this brand receiver and docking bay. Easy to install and set up. Very useful if you alternate between two cars and don't want to buy two receivers.
